Zachary Choo

Hi, I’m Zach. I’m a graduate student in Computer Science at Penn Engineering, previously on the founding team of a startup, working on community and product. I studied design and business, but have always had an interest in technology. I chose engineering because I believe AI has made a deep understanding of software more valuable, not less.

I want to work between engineering and product, writing software and shaping what gets built, ideally at an AI company, whether a lab building large language models or a team applying them to a hard problem. Robotics, quantitative finance, and decentralized finance excite me too. Outside of class, I run technology for Kindness Kits, an LA nonprofit.

PantryAI

Projects
Why

Macro tracking is tedious and meal planners ignore what is already in the kitchen. I wanted a coach that starts from my pantry, my goals, and what I logged today, and runs entirely on the phone.

What it does

A pantry that learns from receipts and barcodes, macro rings that fold in workouts from HealthKit, and a chat that proposes meals from what is on hand, powered by Apple's on-device Foundation Models so nothing leaves the device.

Workouts

A guided lifting coach: a five-step routine wizard, set logging from the lock screen through a Live Activity, and an auto-progression engine that suggests bumps, holds, and deloads from the last three sessions.
